Below, we walk through the benefits and functionality of our Water Softening systems. Visit our available models at rheemwatertreatment.com.
Need to Know
Our water softeners can provide many benefits to your water, appliances, and wallet. Hard water consists of Calcium, Magnesium, Lime, and Clear Water Iron. If you notice the shower head turning white, orange stains in the toilet, or dry skin – you may have hard water. Water softeners reduce these contaminants, extend the life of your appliances, and soften skin. Our softeners strive to be efficient by only regenerating when needed. These units keep track of your water consumption, and consistently shift their cleaning cycles to match your water usage patterns. This helps cut costs on salt, water, and energy bills.
Nice to Know
Softening
Water softeners work by way of resin beads (filtration media) and recharges.
The beads in your resin tank are negatively (-) charged. Hard water contaminants like Calcium, Magnesium, and Iron all have a positive charge (+).
When (+) contaminants pass through the softener, they are trapped by the (-) resin, leaving you with softened water at the faucets.
Recharging
When the resin beads fill up with contaminants, they no longer carry a (-) charge. To recharge them, the system initiates a cleaning cycle. The saltwater solution from the main tank rinses over the resin beads to flush the contaminants out of the resin and down the drain. The beads return to their (-) charge and are ready to soften the water again.
