Do you want to get the most out of your water softener? Using water softener cleanser every 4 months will help your system to run at peak performance! This solution cleans the inside of your system of contaminants, iron, and scale buildup to maximize your softener’s efficiency.
What is Water Softener Cleanser?
The Rheem Water Softener Cleaner is a diluted Phosphoric Acid solution that helps to reduce buildup inside your system. It's an important piece in helping your water softener run at peak performance.
How Does it Work?
If used properly, the cleanser will flow through the internal parts of your softener, and then rinse out through the drain hose during a recharge cycle. The cleanser should never come in contact with your plumbing, but we do recommend opening a faucet and letting the water run for a few minutes after the recharge is complete. This will help to rinse out any leftover cleanser as a safety measure.
Where to Purchase?

How To Use the Cleanser:
Your salt level should be between 2 and 5 on the brinewell (tubing with numbers 1-8 inside the tank.)
1. You'll want to confirm your softener is out of bypass (handle should be pulled out.)
2. You'll want to find the Brinewell inside your salt tank. It's the 4-inch diameter dark tube with a lid on top. This lid will either pop off or screw off counterclockwise:
3. Go ahead and pour one bottle of Cleanser down the Brine well tube and replace the lid.
4. Next, hold the ‘Recharge’ button until the motor kicks on, then let go. This will start a recharge cycle which usually lasts around 2 ½ hours.
5. After the recharge is completed, run a few cold water faucets for 5-10 minutes to rinse any remaining cleanser from the unit.
