You may need to know how to remove and replace the salt lid, top cover and faceplate of your water softener if one of them is damaged or if you need to get access to the electronics or other parts under the cover. Let’s walk through this together.
1. You’ll want to start out by removing the top cover:
- On the back of the unit, you'll unhook the two clips that hold the cover onto the tank below (see photo below). Flex/pull the cover out and away from the softener at these clips.
- There are two similar clips holding the front of the cover on as well. Slide the cover towards you to release these clips. Be careful not to disconnect any wires. It's normal for the plastic cover to produce some noise as it shifts and bends.
2. By removing the top cover, you’re also removing the salt lid because they're connected.
3. If you need to go a step further and remove the salt lid that flips up from the top cover continue on here. The salt lid is attached by connecting onto the left and ride sides on the top of the top cover. There are two small bars that the lid attaches to. To remove the current salt lid, you'll want to use a tool, something like a flat head screwdriver, and do your best to carefully detach it as to not damage the top cover.
4. Once you have that removed, you can take your new salt lid and attach it by clicking it into the top cover. Line up the lid at the top where it connects to the left and right sides. Then have it sitting on the tank like it normally would be, push down on each side carefully to attach it into place.
5. Confirm it's attached correctly by opening and closing the salt lid. You're done!
If you need to remove the faceplate (screen) as well, continue to step 6.
6. The faceplate with the screen will be connected to the water softener. To take the faceplate off the support you'll need to pull it upwards and off.
7. Once it is off, perform your needed task.
8. Now that you’ve completed your task, you’ll want to put everything back together. You can easily do this by just reversing the instructions! All you need to do here is put the faceplate back on and then your top cover back on. You did it! Nice job!
