Depressurizing your softener is essential for several instances like winterizing or performing maintenance. Don't worry. It's easy! Let's go through these 4 quick steps to safely release pressure from inside the unit.
1. You'll need to bypass the water softener by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work.
If you have a blending valve, make sure it's closed so no hard water is coming through. Refer to What is a Blending Valve for instructions.
2. Go ahead and hold the Recharge button until you hear the motor start to turn, then let go. You'll notice the motor will stop after a few seconds. You'll see ‘Recharge Now’ or ‘Recharging’ flashing on the screen.
3. Press the ‘Recharge’ button again. The motor will turn on, moving to the next cycle.
4. Repeat Step 3 until the flashing 'recharge' indicator disappears from your screen.

2. Turn the faucets on to depressurize your plumbing.
3. Lastly, bypass the softener (by pushing the handle IN) before turning the water back on.
