Rheem water softeners monitor your soft water usage to determine when to trigger a recharge cycle. An important piece of this is the flow meter inside the system correctly metering water use. Follow the steps below to test!
Let's Begin!
1. Hold the 'Select' button on your display panel until '000' appears on the screen, then let go - this is your water flow meter. If you see a '000h' here, your metering device is attached upside down. Visit our '000h' article to troubleshoot.
2. Go on over and turn on a faucet downstream of your softener and leave it running. Keep in mind that older plumbing was occasionally designed without the kitchen sink in the softened water loop. A bathroom sink hot-water faucet is generally a safe bet to use for this test.
3. You should see the '000' counting up rapidly - this means the softener is keeping track of your water usage. If the numbers do not count here that means it's not metering correctly. Head on over to our Failure To Meter Water article for help.
