Your softener's salt and water efficiency are based on your water usage patterns and the quality of incoming water. You can find a few examples of water and salt use in the Specifications chart in your Owner's Manual.
Note: Manual recharges will always use the maximum salt/water dose.
Example: Highlighted below is the maximum amount of salt and water this system could use in one recharge - 35.2 gallons of water @ 13.1 lbs of salt use.

Understood that for RHS42, manual recharge will always use maximum salt dosage.
Are recharge triggered by "maximum days between recharge" setting will also use "maximum dose" or it will be based on actual usage?
Recharges are based on your household water usage and the harness value you programmed. Automatic recharges strive to be as efficient as possible with water and salt usage.
Let's make question more blunt.
Is a recharge triggered by "max days between recharge" is similar to manual recharge (which is not efficient at all - as it uses maximum salt dosage) or is it considered an automatic recharge using only salt dose based on capacity used?
If you have a number set in the 'max days between recharge' setting, for example, 2 days - your softener will manually recharge every 2 days, using the max salt dose each time. If this setting is left to default, your softener will recharge automatically based on your water usage (most efficient).
