If you have a desire to upgrade your RHS42 softener to have WiFi capability, you can do so by swapping out a few parts.
The RHS42 model is the only softener that can be upgraded to a WiFi unit. The RHS42 and RHW42 (WiFi unit) have similar capacity and internal programming - which makes this upgrade an option.
To do so, you will need to install the RHW42's Control Panel and Faceplate on your current RHS42 unit.

Replacement Instructions
Once you receive your parts, use the instructions below to install:
1. Remove the top cover from your softener by releasing the two clips on the back of the cover.
2. Under the cover, you will find the Faceplate and Control Board (pictured). Start by removing the wire connections from the board. You'll need to unplug the power supply cord and wire harness (colorful wires) from the back of the board.
3. The thicker red and black wires run to the black motor - they connect to the motor at a clear white clip. Unclip this.
4. The remaining wire on the board runs down to the tank light, on the front left side of the main valve. Remove the tank light from the tray.
5. Set the control board and faceplate aside. Locate the new control board, and connect the wires to it (use the steps above if needed). Be sure to connect the motor wire and attach the tank light.
6. Snap the control board into the new faceplate, securing all four corner tabs. Install the faceplate into the top cover of the softener.
7. Apply the decal to the new faceplate, and reconnect the top cover.
8. Program the new display with your personal settings, then use our iQua Set-up Guide to connect to WiFi.
