Discolored water after installation of water softener systems can happen if the unit wasn't properly sanitized or rinsed during the install steps.
When you have a brand-new softener, sometimes the resin inside the tank that helps soften the water, will bleed into the water and you’ll notice a change in the water’s color. This is called 'color throw’ and it's from the resin beads. Don’t worry, though! This is normal. To get rid of this, you’ll want to Sanitize your Softener if you haven’t done so already during the installation steps. If you notice the color is still there, feel free to do an extra Recharge cycle on the unit to help it flush out the color.
