The ‘Max Days Between Recharges’ is an optional programming available only on select models. It allows you to choose the maximum number of days between recharge cycles. Read on below to learn more!
What does it do?
By default, your softener’s algorithm will determine how often the system runs a recharge cycle. Since your water use fluctuates over time, so will the frequency of those recharge cycles. The Max Days feature is a programming tool that allows you to control how many days pass (at max) between recharge cycles.
Why is it useful?
This feature is used in situations where it's beneficial to have a softener recharge more often than the algorithm calls for. For example, if you have high contaminants in your water, you may want to override the algorithm and program your softener to run every few days in order to keep the system clean.
There's no harm in running the softener on this feature, but note that these occasional forced recharge cycles may increase your salt and water use.
Example
Your Max Days programming will override the algorithm if the algorithm frequency is longer. This means if the algorithm is triggering an automatic recharge every 4 days, but you set your Max Days to 3 days, the max days will trump the algorithm. If this happens, the algorithm’s schedule will reset after the forced recharge and start counting 4 days again.
- Important Note: Setting the max days does NOT mean that you're scheduling the softener to recharge every X amount of days. Setting the max days means that your softener won't go more than X days before recharging. So for another example, if you set the max days to 7, your softener may automatically charge on it's own before that. If it doesn't automatically charge on it's own before the 7 days, then it WILL force a Recharge on that 7th day.

1. Hold the Select button until ‘000’ appears, then let go.
2. Press the Select button repeatedly to see if you have a screen that displays ‘Recharge’ and ‘Day’:
-
Max Days = "- - - -" or "Auto" – the softener will rely on the algorithm to calculate recharge frequency and salt dosage. This the most efficient option.
-
Max Days = 6 or higher – the salt dosage during recharges will move up and down based on softening capacity used. This will result in average efficiency.
-
Max Days < 6 – the softener will likely switch between automatic recharges and forced recharges (based on your water usage). This may result in less efficiency.
3. If you want to change what it's currently set as, you can use the up and down arrows.
4. When you're finished, tap the Select button twice to return back to the home screen.
